Yiwu: Traditional Cultural Activities Come to Foreigners

1 June 2022 | TO improve the business environment in Yiwu, spread traditional Chinese culture, help foreign friends to understand China (and Yiwu), and blend into the local community through culture, Yiwu City brought a series of traditional cultural activities to foreigners in Yiwu.

On June 1, Yiwu Foreign Affairs Office and other relevant authorities organised an activity for the upcoming Duanwu (Dragon Boat) Festival in Jimingshan International Community, by bringing traditional Duanwu activities such as egg painting, making sachets, and making rice dumplings to foreign friends from Yemen, Germany, Finland, Iraq, South Korea, Afghanistan, Morocco, Mexico, Tunisia, and other countries.

On June 7, the opening ceremony of the iYiwu “Dandelion” Chinese Traditional Culture Class was held in Yiwu Cultural Centre. The event was hosted by Yiwu Foreign Affairs Office and Yiwu Culture, Broadcasting, Tourism and Sports Bureau. Deputy Mayor Wang Wei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office Wu Dan, and Director of the Culture and Tourism Bureau Zhang Fengde attended and delivered speeches.

The opening ceremony attracted more than 20 foreign friends from 15 countries including Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Colombia, Pakistan, South Korea, South Africa, and the United States. Foreign friends dressed in traditional Chinese customs, tasted Chinese tea, played the traditional Chinese instruments – Guqin to get closer to elegant traditional Chinese culture, and deeply feel the charm of Chinese art and culture.
