I am fortunate enough to be selected and appointed by Guangzhou Municipal Government of China to enjoy a two-month secondment at UCLG ASPAC in Jakarta.
I obtained my full-time BA in English Linguistics from the Guangzhou-based Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2005 and my part-time MPhil in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Jinan University based in Guangzhou in 2013.
My professional career started when I joined Guangzhou Municipal e-Government Center in 2006, responsible for the management of Guangzhou International (http://english.gz.gov.cn), English portal of Guangzhou Municipal Government which provides the foreigners with the latest public service information of the city. It was not until late 2010 that I was transferred to Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, providing the overseas ICT operators with language support.
Since 2012, I have been working at the government organization where I come from to carry out the international collaboration and to manage the related R&D projects in the fields of science and technology between Guangzhou Municipal Government and its global partners.
During my secondment here at UCLG ASPAC, I hope to have an intuitive understanding of ASPAC on the one hand, and to better bridge Guangzhou to the ASPAC Secretariat and the ASPAC members for potential cooperation opportunity on the other hand. The work experience in the international organization is also expected to accumulate for my future career development as well.
