RESCHEDULED: The First Session of the 2024 UCLG ASPAC Executive Bureau and Likupang Tourism Festival

UCLG ASPAC rescheduled the First Session Executive Bureau Meeting 2024 from April 23-25, to June 5-7, 2024, due to the alert status of Mount Ruang following its eruption on April 17, 2024 and the closure of Sam Ratulangi airport in Menado. Mount Ruang is in the Sitaro Regency, approximately 109km away from Airmadidi, the capital of the North Minahasa Regency.

Responding to this, UCLG ASPAC has made this decision known to all speakers and participants through a formal letter sent out on April 19, 2024, regarding the rescheduling of the First Session of the 2024 UCLG ASPAC Executive Bureau and Likupang Tourism Festival 2024. The letter was also addressed to the UCLG ASPAC Presidency and Executive Bureau Members.

On 24th April 2024, the UCLG ASPAC Secretary-General welcomed the visit of North Minahasa Regent, Mr.  Joune Ganda to the Secretariat. He shared the recent situation with the re-opening of the airport but with still limited available flights. He hoped despite the postponement of the Executive Bureau Meeting entitled “Enhancing Sustainable Tourism and Creative Economy through Asia-Pacific Collaboration,” many more speakers and participants would be able to attend and experience the beauty of North Minahasa. North Minahasa Regency has the famous Likupang area which has been declared by the Government of Indonesia as one of the five super priorities of tourism destinations in Indonesia.

All participants have been requested to renew their confirmation of participation to provide the Secretariat with the latest information regarding flight itineraries and preferred site visits. UCLG ASPAC also organises the exhibition and business matching session and welcomes private companies to participate.  The registration link http://uclgaspac-connect.org is available for new participants.

The host, North Minahasa Regency, has made extensive preparations for the meeting, site visits, and a great Likupang Tourism Festival, aiming to offer all participants a memorable experience in a land of unparalleled beauty. The participation of the UCLG ASPAC Presidency, Executive Bureau Members, and UCLG ASPAC Members is highly valued, as it will significantly contribute to the success of the event.

For any inquiry or question regarding the Executive Bureau meeting, please send it to the Secretariat of UCLG ASPAC at secretariat@uclg-aspac.org. We look forward to welcoming the members and partners of UCLG ASPAC to North Minahasa in June 2024.
