Uraia Call for Projects

THE Uraía platform seeks to support innovation in local public management by increasing efficiency and transparency thanks to the use of SMART technologies, particularly in the following areas: municipal finances, management of public services and infrastructure, and transparency and accountability.

Uraía will support the start-up of two initiatives led by Platform partners. For this first edition of the Call for Projects, a specific focus will be given to the creation of new mobile-based apps to be used by citizens directly through their Smartphones or other internet-based platforms that improve the communication with their local government. The project proposal should involve the development of an app addressing at least one of the following themes: the transformation of informal economic activities into municipal revenue; improved management of municipal infrastructure; and municipal transparency.

Uraía will provide technical assistance to the selected projects. The type of assistance will depend on the specific needs of the project, and may include:

  • Assistance for economic, legal and financial feasibility studies.
  • Assistance in the establishment of public procurement strategies.
  • Assistance in the identification of service & technology providers, as well as adapted technologies.
  • Assistance in the identification of similar experiences and organization of a field visit to other municipalities.

Any Platform partner can present up to two initiatives. These can be led by local governments or civil society representatives, as long as they match Uraía’s goals.

Two projects will be selected in 2015. If you are interested in submitting a project from your local government, please fill the APPLICATION FORM and return it to info@uraia.org before August 31st, 2015.
