UCLG ASPAC’s Standing Committee on Women in Local Governments (SCWILG) was formed in December 2013 with a vision of increased women’s participation in political positions and in other institutions in local governments. The Committee advocates towards women empowerment and the integration of gender perspectives into different themes of local development, such as public space and safety, local economic development, disaster risk reduction and management, education and health sectors for equitable services delivery.
