UCLG ASPAC, under Municipal Network Policy advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia, has developed a learning video to promote City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and address SDG 6.2, particularly in low-income communities, Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The video was produced in Bangladesh and has documented successful CWIS models implemented by Sanitation Excellence Award-winning cities.
The learning video serves as a tool to publicise the work of UCLG ASPAC and its members in promoting CWIS, to document and share successful learning experiences across the region for learning purposes, as well as an advocacy tool to lobby for further support for CWIS implementation at the local and regional levels.
The overall message of the video highlights the importance of the citizen engagement in city sanitation planning, the usage of Shit Flow Diagram as a tool for measuring the status/progress, social inclusiveness in sanitation, sanitation value chain, environmental impact of sanitation solutions, occupational health and safety practices in sanitation, successful business models for CWIS implementation. The video has also captured key processes with more visible tools.
UCLG ASPAC produced the video under the framework of Municipalities Network Advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia (MuNASS) Project, supported by the Gates Foundation, to enhance the capacity of cities and local government associations in Asia-Pacific in addressing City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation.
