THE Preliminary Review Conference to decide the preliminary results of Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation was held in Guangzhou on 17 to 17 October 2012.
The nominees for Guangzhou Award include: 6 cities from Asia (Seoul, Kaohsiung, Chiang Rai, Sylhet, Kocaeli and Sakhnin); 3 cities from Europe (Vienna, Salerno and Perm), 2 cities from South America (Curitiba and Medellin), 2 cities from Africa (Dakar and Lilongwe) and 2 cities from North America (Aguascalientes and Vancouver).
Projects submitted by these cities cover the following themes: urban planning, urban construction, youth issues, disaster prevention, smart cities and green cities. These projects are innovative and practical, which cities and local governments worldwide can refer to.
