THE Secretariat is enthusiastic to have a new intern at the Secretariat, Zhang Yishuhan, currently an undergraduate student in Guandong University of Foreign Study, majoring in English Senior Translation.
During her stay she has been assisting in the preparations of UCLG ASPAC’s events – the Wakatobi Seminar which she is set to attend together with staff of the Secretariat, and the ASEAN Mayors Forum in Makassar. She has also been giving a hand to the Member Services Department on database matters and to the Communications department by translating articles from English to Mandarin.
Besides her desk job, Zhang Yishuan’ prospective assignment is to come up with ideas for the following research topics: environment, smart cities, local economic development and the role of local governments in relation to the Chinese context.
She stated that to be an intern at UCLG ASPAC is a good opportunity to broaden her international vision and cultivate comprehensive abilities, especially to better understand how we can contribute to build a smart and resilient city, the city that will become our ideal home.
