HOOLA’s Performance at Hannover’s 10th Anniversary Celebration: A Global Milestone for Music and Sustainability

Daegu proudly announced that its local music group, HOOLA, performed at the opening ceremony of Hannover’s 10th anniversary as a UNESCO City of Music on November 30, 2024. This event marked a significant milestone in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, underscoring the potential of international musical exchange and the power of cultural diplomacy.

HOOLA, an upcycling performance band, plays instruments crafted from waste materials like PVC pipes, empty paint cans, used shampoo bottles, etc. Their performance not only showcased artistic creativity but also served as a statement of environmental responsibility, with a focus on climate action and sustainability.

The anniversary celebration emphasised the importance of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which connects cities worldwide through music and culture. The legendary lead singer of Scorpions praised the performance, describing it as “incredibly creative and unique.” HOOLA received a standing ovation, with representatives from music cities like London, Canada, and Belfast, Ireland, also showing keen interest in the performance.
