Experience Korea’s Most Flavourful Festival: Daegu Chimac Festival 2025

Daegu, South Korea’s vibrant city known for its cultural charm and culinary delights, invites international visitors to experience one of the country’s most beloved summer celebrations — the 2025 Daegu Chimac Festival. Scheduled for July 2 – 6, 2025, this event combines two of Korea’s favourite indulgences: “chicken” and “maekju” (beer), forming the now-famous term “Chimac.”

Held in the scenic Duryu Park, the Chimac Festival offers more than just food and drink. It is a cultural experience that highlights Korea’s dynamic nightlife, music, and hospitality. Over one million visitors attended in previous years, making it one of Asia’s largest and most festive culinary gatherings.

Festivalgoers can enjoy a wide array of crispy Korean fried chicken, craft and global beers, live performances by K-pop stars and local artists, outdoor activities, and interactive booths. The event also serves as a platform for international exchange, with special zones dedicated to foreign guests and cultural promotions.

Daegu Metropolitan Government, an active member of UCLG ASPAC, sees the festival as more than a celebration—it is a showcase of urban vibrancy, tourism potential, and creative city branding. It offers local governments a unique model of public-private partnership in event planning and economic revitalisation.

We warmly invite UCLG ASPAC members to explore Daegu during the Chimac Festival—experience the energy, flavours, and friendships that define this unforgettable summer tradition.
