BRINGING the lifelong learning issue under the spotlight, the City of Changwon, the UNESCO Bangkok Regional Bureau for Education and the Korean Naional Commission for UNESCO co-organize the Changwon/UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on “the New Paradigm of Community Learning Center through On-line Lifelong Education”.
The Conference will invite nominated participants to Phuket, Thailand, from 9 to 11 May 2016, where they will receive technical and financial assistance from the National Institute for Lifelong Education, Korea and Phuket City, Thailand. The organizers will support 3-days of hotel accommodation, meals and local transportation for invited participants.
Background
Today, in a complex and fast-changing world, it is necessary for individuals to acquire and adapt competences such as knowledge, skills and attitudes through all forms of learning to cope with various challenges. Lifelong learning encompasses learning at all ages and subsumes formal, non-formal and informal learning. In many countries, lifelong learning has been a topic of high importance in the education discussion in view of the 21st Century and the Sustainable Development Goal 4: to Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Objectives
The main objective of the Conference is to Inform and exchange ideas and experiences on Lifelong Learning and Skill Development through online content and connectivity. Specifically, participants will be having their own thoughts and answers on following key questions:
1. What are the trends of new community learning systems in urban settings and how do these function to promote lifelong learning?
2. How best can online contents and connectivity could be utilized at the community place like CLCs in rural and urban setting?
3. How best can local art craft products and eco-tourism can be promoted through connectivity and community learning centers?
Participants
The Conference will be attended by two nominated participants from each country in Southeast, South and East Asia, participants of ONIE, the Ministry of Education Thailand, participants from two metropolitan cities of Phuket and Bangkok. The nominated participants (Government & NGO) are those who are actively planning, conducting and supervising CLCs in their respective countries.
