The City of Jinju, located in the Republic of Korea, is making ongoing efforts to promote garden culture and foster the development of the garden industry. In its pursuit of become a “City of Garden Culture,” where gardens become a way of life and a part of the culture, Jinju is implementing a range of strategic and sustainable policies. These include the creation of artist-designed gardens, the training and certification of citizen gardeners, and the recognition and promotion of private gardens throughout the city. Through these initiatives, the city aims to establish a forward-looking model of garden culture that harmonises daily life with the beauty and value of gardens.
As part of this commitment, the “2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo” is scheduled to take place over ten days, from June 13 to June 22, 2025, at Chojun Park in Jinju. This event, the largest exhibition dedicated to the garden industry in the nation, holds particular significance as it marks the first time such an expo is being hosted in Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
The central theme of the 2025 Expo is “Life with Gardens: Practical Gardens in Everyday Living.”In alignment with the lifestyles of modern urban dwellers, the expo will showcase practical and accessible garden solutions suitable even for small and limited spaces. These include innovative ways to transform apartment balconies, rooftops, and weekend farms into restful green areas. In doing so, the expo aims to demonstrate how gardens can be seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
In addition to the main exhibition, a variety of engaging programmes are being prepared to enrich the overall experience. These include the Korea Garden Show, a specialised exhibition for the garden industry, a garden-themed conference, and a range of participatory programmes for local residents and visitors alike. Through these diverse events, the expo aspires not only to highlight the present and future of the garden industry, but also to propose a new model for regional revitalisation through garden culture.
