6 June 2022, Jakarta | UCLG ASPAC and the Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC) signed a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to promote Official Development Assistance (ODA) under the framework of UCLG ASPAC Humanitarian Development (HDP) Nexus Committee, led by Province of Gyeonggi.

Founded in 2007, KAIDEC is Korea’s representative association in the field that leads research, education, and social practices related to international development cooperation and ODA. Based on the agreement, KAIDEC will provide ‘customised capacity building consulting’ so that local governments in the Asia-Pacific region can jointly carry out ODA projects under the HDP Nexus Committee platform.

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Sung Gyu Kim, the President of KAIDEC, said “The purpose of the LoA is to promote ODA by passing on the know-how accumulated in the field of development cooperation to local and foreign governments. We will propose and discover various projects.” UCLG ASPAC Secretary-General Bernadia Tjandradewi said, “We will focus on promoting projects that link humanitarian, development, and peace.”
