METROPOLIS Women International Network is pleased to invite participants to the Capacity-building Seminar for Local Elected Female Representatives in Africa. Organised by the city of Abidjan, the seminar will be held from 24 to 28 July in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This seminar seeks to formally establish the International Network of Local Elected Female Representatives in West Africa and particularly in Ivory Coast.
The event shall bring together various figures from the sphere of metropolitan and urban politics (prefects, NGOs, institutions) as well as representatives from the international community of economic affairs. The training workshop will involve approximately 500 elected female representatives from 21 African countries. Delegations from the highest echelons of Metropolis in other continents are also expected to attend.
Featuring a full programme, the meeting will focus its reflection on ‘Women in Contemporary African Society’, which shall set the theme for the opening conference.
The sub-themes are as follows:
1 – The Integration of Women into the Economic Fabric
2 – Women and the Resolution of Armed Conflicts
3 – Women and the Strategy to Seize State Power
4 – Women’s Education and Development in Africa
