At 26, Vinanda Prameswati took the helm as Kediri’s mayor — the youngest female city leader in Indonesia today. But dismissing her because of her youth would be a mistake. Her 100-day agenda has already turned heads, and in less than one year of leadership, she has earned widespread praise. A list of awards that she received stands as testament to how carefully she has curated her priorities and implemented programmes that truly hit the mark.
Her programmes include the launch of the Mayor’s Hotline and increased incentives for community leaders, officials at local health centres, and religious community leaders. She has also provided each district with up to IDR 1 billion (approximately USD 59,900) in cash for development and social protection. Special funding has been allocated for school operational assistance, scholarships for bachelor’s, master’s, and post-graduate students, support for outstanding athletes, business capital assistance, and market expansion for small and medium enterprises. She is also aiming to promote the city’s tourism through the D’CITO programme, develop an urban tourism zone, and preserve local culture. Her priorities further include creating a disability-friendly city and improving infrastructure.
Mayor Vinanda Prameswati has also been recognised as an inspirational woman by many, receiving the Outstanding Young Public Leader of the Year at the Leading Women Award 2025 and the Women’s Inspiration Award 2025. As for Kediri, the city has been acknowledged for its Muslim-friendly Tourism (first place, provincial level), in Shariah Microfinance category (second place, provincial level), and, recently, took home Detikjatim Award, acknowledging the city’s outstanding economic programme in integrated urban tourism acceleration or Anugerah Program Ekonomi Terpuji untuk kategori Akselerasi Wisata Kota Terintegrasi held by Detikjatim media.
In her early tenure, Mayor Vinanda Prameswati has demonstrated that effective leadership stems from attentiveness to community needs and the courage to enact meaningful change.
