Mayor Roxanne Pimentel of Tandag City is not like any other female city leader. To her constituents, she is the pride of the city. “Our multi-award-winning Mayor” – that’s what many call her. This title doesn’t arise from mere loyalist fanaticism. It reflects the numerous accolades she has earned. With her achievements, she has raised the bar for what it means to serve as a city leader.
First, Tandag City has earned prestigious recognition dubbed as the “Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition” (CROWN Award). This achievement came along as the result of three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025) of unwavering commitment to implementing the city’s nutrition action plan and consistently maintaining a commendable minimum score of 90%.
Next, the city has also accepted the plaque of recognition for its effort in sustainable waste management at the “Mastering Municipal Waste Management for a Sustainable Future: Best Practices and Technology” event in 2024. It highlights Tandag City’s dedication to the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003) and its outstanding efforts in establishing and operating a Sanitary Landfill Facility, and serves as a testament to the city’s commitment to preserving the environment for future generations.
The city has also received the Bahandianong Kal’wasan Tigpanalipod Award in 2025, a recognition for its work in disaster preparedness, community protection, and public safety initiatives. Other awards received by the city’s local government units include awards for implementing an electronic local government system and the 7th Seal of Good Local Governance.
Hats off to Mayor Roxanne Pimentel. Her works cast their light on the lives of many, inspiring hope for a better tomorrow.
