In cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), UCLG ASPAC has been promoting Disaster Risk Reduction and the Making Cities Resilient (MCR) 2030 to engage more and more cities to commit and prioritise the resilience aspect. The Executive Director of APEKSI, Mr. Alwis Rustam encouraged cities to be part of MCR2030 as it will help the development of the resiliency in the cities in general. The event also brought the case studies of Padang City and Pacitan Regency to share their experiences in joining the MCR 2030 to the participants.

The virtual roadshows are expected to bring local governments in Indonesia to make commitment, join MCR2030 platform, and together demonstrate Sendai Framework Indonesia’s global commitment to Disaster Risk Reduction, including at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) event in Bali in May 2022.

In the process, UCLG ASPAC along with UNDRR, its regional core partner of MCR2030 will assist the implementation of MCR2030, primarily supporting at the strategic level by providing high-level inputs to ensure the strategy stays on track and integrated according to key success measures.
