October 12-18, 2022 | Balochistan – UCLG ASPAC programme for SDGs localisation in Pakistan, LEAD for SDGs, organised the chain of two-day training sessions for 13 districts of Balochistan namely Loralai, Musakhail, Duki, Barkhan, Killa Saif Ullah, Zhob, Sherani, Khuzdar, Surab, Qalat, Kharan, Lasbela, and Hub.
These trailblasing efforts built the capacity of government officials from the Departments of Local Government, Education, Health, Finance, and Planning and Development. These officials will help to foster the continuous process of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) monitoring, data gathering, and reporting to achieve SDGs in Balochistan.
The training sessions were graced with the presence of Deputy Commissioners of the venue district, they shared the determination to form the taskforces on SDGs at the district level so they can avail all the available resources and methods to achieve effective localisation of SDGs.
In this regard, the authorities suggested utilising the already formed working committees at the district level as a task force on SDGs.
It is conferred that the training programme should be continued and the participants should reiterate the lessons learned in their districts. Furthermore, it is suggested to cover all the SDGs in separate sessions to understand the discourse of the distinctive thematic areas.
