In conjunction with the 4th UCLG Congress “World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders” to be held on 1-4 October 2013 in Rabat, President of

Training Program on Strategic Planning and Smart Cities

The Metropolis International Institute (METROPOLIS) and Mashdad Center will conduct 2 parallel training programs on “Strategic Planning & Performance Measurement” and “Smart Cities” whose trainers are well-known experts.

All UCLG ASPAC members are welcomed to participate to these programs to share and gain experiences enabling all of us to improve our cities. The trainings are going to be only in English and Farsi and Arabic upon request and are aimed towards urban decision-makers and city managers.

Please be in mind that the seats are limited for each seminar, each city can only register one participant for each theme. The Mashdad Training Center will cover the accommodations including lodging (only from October 8th-13th 2013), breakfast, lunch, dinner, and inner-city transportation.

In Memoriam, Dr. Rudolf Hauter

With deep sorrow, we inform you the sad demise of Dr. Rudolf Hauter, the former Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC. He passed away on Sunday, 30th June 2013 at 3.32 am MEST in Wuerzburg, Germany, after his long battle with cancer.
Dr. Rudolf Hauter held the position of the Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC from October 2010 – May 2013 and had the overall responsibility of managing the activities and programs of the Asia-Pacific Section of UCLG.

Welcoming the New Secretary General

On taking up her post, Dr. Bernadia says, “In UCLG ASPAC, I hope to enable activities that can produce tangible results for its members, particularly in its advocacy efforts – after all, local governments are the most effective players in bringing changes to its citizens and communities. During my term, I plan to enhance our cooperation with regional associations, ASEAN, SAARC, UNESCAP and various other institutions. It is my long time dream to create a more prosperous and vibrant Asia-Pacific region.
