THE urban infrastructure of Asian cities faces social, political, environmental and financial risks due to climate change-induced shocks and stresses. This creates the impetus for city stakeholders to assess their cities’ vulnerabilities and to look for investment opportunities in designing and building resilient urban infrastructure.
Under this premise, the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) will organize the Training on Urban Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience on 23-27 May 2016, in Singapore.
The training aims to improve climate change and urban resilience knowledge among senior-level managers to help them design projects. It also aims at accelerating the cities’ efforts on integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation into local strategies. In particular, it will help participants:
• Understand urban development and climate change linkages
• Learn financing options for mitigation and adaptation measures
• Collaborate with peers and international experts
Terms of Participation
– Trainees are required to have 100% attendance to the course.
– City teams must coordinate with CDIA for any follow up activities after the course.
– Each selected participant shall benefit from waived training registration fee with a value of USD2,000; sponsored return airfare from city origin to Singapore, hotel accommodation (check in May 22, check out May 28), visa fee, inland transport for airport transfers and site visits, meals during training, and group insurance.
