THE city of Daejeon, one of UCLG ASPAC active members and host of the upcoming UCLG World Congress, is rapidly emerging as the centre of art and culture in Korea. Most of the filming of game scenes including tug-of-war, dalgona challenge, and marble games was done in ‘Studio Cube’, located in Daejeon. As Korea’s largest filming mecca, Daejeon owns four general filming studios (one studio with a special facility, and a special-effects studio) located near Daejeon Convention Centre (DCC), where the 7th UCLG World Congress will be held.
On the occasion of the Congress, Daejeon will take lead on K-culture that is emerging as a global interest through the formation of integrated special contents clusters and fostering related industries.
The Congress organising committee of Daejeon is preparing various programmes for members and other participants. From October 10th to 14th , the committee will showcase K-pop concerts with famous Korean singers, world food culture fair, bread festival, and a ‘Welcome Together Festival’ featuring busking, media façade, and music fountain. Along with these major events, some 30 sideline events and festivals such as world flower exhibition and Korean traditional music performances will be held from October 1st to 16th, in a bid to gather the world as one.
Meanwhile, the 7th UCLG World Congress will be held from October 10th to 14th in Daejeon, the central city of South Korea. During the five-day run, five tracks will be featured under the theme of ‘Local and Regional Governments Breaking Through as One’ in DCC 2 and its vicinity. During the same period, Daejeon will also showcase smart city exhibitions and other various sideline events with tour programmes for the Congress participants to enjoy. Daejeon truly hopes participants of the Congress to fully enjoy the event.
