Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The year 2016 has been very challenging but also very exciting for all of us at UCLG-ASPAC. I wanted to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the support, good cooperation, and friendships as well as opportunities we’ve had to discuss and work together on various activities. With the adoption of the New Urban Agenda and SDGs, I trust there are much more opportunities we will have in 2017 onward to work together with you to achieve what we are committed to. And we can keep our personal and professional resolutions with a strong belief that we will contribute to the development of cities/regions, humanity, knowledge and a happier and better society.

Starting 2017, we start special issue of Public Service in Asia-Pacific called “Mayor of the Month.” This issue provides an excellent opportunity to discuss how Mayor in Asia Pacific aims at Local Economic Development. The first edition of this issue, we selected Dato’ Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Mayor of Seberang Perai as Mayor of the Month.
