- The 2014 UCLG World Council will be held in Haikou at the kind invitation of Mayor Ni Qiang, in conjunction with the Guangzhou Award.
- Statutory Meetings, including Executive Bureau and World Council 24-26 November in Haikou.
- Learning Events related to the Second Edition of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation 27-28 November in Guangzhou
The whole day of the 24th November and the morning of the 25th November will be dedicated to preparatory meetings.
There will be limited capacity for Committee and Working Group meetings. Slots will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
- The Executive Bureau will be held on the afternoon of the 25th November.
- The World Council will be celebrated in two sessions on 26th November.
Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation
The second edition of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation will take place back-to-back with the UCLG World Council.
The Award Ceremony, co-hosted by UCLG, METROPOLIS and the city of Guangzhou, will take place in the city of Guangzhou on 27th-29th November within the framework of the Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Conference. This will also be held in conjunction with the 2014 China International Friendship Cities Conference, co-organized with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). Please find attached the invitation letter for this event, co-signed by Ms. Li Xiaolin, President of CPAFFC, and Mr. Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou and Co-President of United Cities and Local Governments, as well as the draft agendas.
On Thursday 27th November, the candidates of the Guangzhou Award will be given the opportunity to showcase their projects, which will provide an interesting learning experience for UCLG members.
The Award Ceremony will take place on 28th November.
Members planning to attend the Guangzhou Award should inform the Secretariat as soon as possible in order to allow the hosts to ensure adequate logistical arrangements.

Please note that members wishing to travel from Haikou to Guangzhou should make early arrangements as flights between the two cities are usually busy.

Visa
Please note that you will need a visa to be able to enter China, and that the process can be lengthy. Applying for a tourist visa might be the best option for some countries.
