Official Mascot of the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games: Heung-yi and Na-you

Heung-yi and Na-you is the official mascot of the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games.

The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games will be held from August 1 to 12, 2027 in Sejong City, Daejeon, Chungcheongbuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do, Republic of Korea. The Games are expected to bring together about 15,000 student-athletes from more than 150 countries.

According to the Organising Committee, Heung-yi is a tiger character designed to reflect the image of tigers traditionally associated with the Chungcheong region. The character features a friendly facial expression, curious eyes and a rounded body shape. Its main colour is blue, which symbolises youth (cheongchun) and lively energy in Korea’s traditional five-colour scheme (obangsaek).

Na-you is a magpie character with a similarly rounded face and body, also using blue as its main colour. Rather than following conventional magpie designs, the character focuses on expressing a sense of shared identity between young people and the host region. Its name combines “Na” (meaning “me” in Korean) and “You”, conveying the idea that everyone participates in the Games together.

The mascot was officially unveiled at a D-1000 ceremony on November 4, 2024, marking 1,000 days before the opening of the Games. The event was attended by representatives from local governments and sports organisations, and was held to signal the full-scale launch of promotional activities for the international sporting event.

The Organising Committee has stated that Heung-yi and Na-you will be actively used as the main visual identity of the Games throughout the preparation period. They are expected to appear across a wide range of promotional and marketing materials, including the official website, social media platforms and printed publications related to the event.

In addition, the mascot is planned to be incorporated into various forms of official merchandise, such as character dolls, stationery, apparel and other souvenirs, which will be made available at promotional events and competition venues.

Through these activities, Heung-yi and Na-you are expected to serve as practical communication tools that help domestic and international audiences easily recognise the Games and better understand key information related to schedules, venues and participation programmes.
