Mayor Amy Roa Alvarez of San Vicente (Palawan) has become a new hope for local people. Taking the leadership role, Mayor Amy’s commitment shines bright and gives light to local people.
In 2020, Mayor Amy has launched YAKAP ni AMY, a flagship programme to bring basic services to each barangay, improve the quality and access to health information, and to foster convergence among the various sector of society together with the private sector, national government unit, non-government organisation and uniformed personnel. This programme is unique, as one of the components include Barangay consultation activity with Barangay Officials, Youth Leaders, various organisations and reporting of local government’s accomplishments plans and projects.
Mayor Amy has also boosted city’s efforts for improvement by exploring possibilities with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) MIMAROPA, in areas such as securing funding, improving cooperative training programmes, and advocating for policies that foster resilience and equitable growth among cooperative members.
Partnership was also made for San Vicente Palawan Electrification Project in 2022. Collaboration with Power 4 All managed to distribute mini hub solar home kit in Sitio Candamia and Sitio Catalat of Brgy. Caruray. Mayor Amy expressed her hope that the effort can support people’s daily life to move comfortably at night and to help children study. “In every effort we make is a light for a better future,” she said.
