In 2025, Goyang City moved beyond being a place where concerts simply happen. It pioneered a new urban model—“Festanomics,” a system in which performances drive both cultural vitality and economic growth. At the centre of this transformation is “Goyang Con,” an internet-born term referring to large-scale concerts held in Goyang, now widely used as a proper noun among fans.
This year alone, Goyang Stadium hosted 18 major concerts, drawing 700,000 attendees and generating 10.9 billion won (approx. USD 8.2 million) in revenue. Since last year, total attendance has reached 850,000, with cumulative revenue of 12.5 billion won. With global artists across genres—including G-Dragon, Coldplay, BTS (J-Hope and Jin), BLACKPINK, DAY6, Oasis, and Travis Scott—taking the stage, Goyang is emerging as a multi-genre mega-performance platform city.
Goyang’s competitiveness stems from accessibility, venue adaptability, and strong administrative support. The city is located less than an hour from Incheon International Airport, and the opening of GTX-A Kintex Station now connects to Seoul Station in just 16 minutes. Subway Line 3 also links directly to the area, providing seamless mobility for domestic and international fans. Goyang Stadium, unconstrained by a regular sports league tenant, offers exceptional flexibility—ideal for global tour schedules. Meanwhile, administrative coordination among more than 30 departments and agencies, including police, fire services, medical teams, and transportation authorities, ensured efficient and comprehensive event support. The impact of “Goyang Con” has extended far beyond the stadium. The Daehwa Station commercial district recorded a 58.1% surge in card spending and a 15% rise in resident foot traffic, its best performance to date. The wave of concertgoers naturally spilt into Goyang’s tourism infrastructure—from Ilsan Lake Park to KINTEX exhibitions—turning the entire city into a unified performance stage. Riding this momentum, Goyang is rapidly evolving into East Asia’s premier concert and performance hub.
