November 11, 2024 | UCLG ASPAC received a meaningful donation from Junior Chamber International (JCI) Seojeonju, dedicated to supporting youth-focused initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. Dr Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC, accepted the donation during the Jeonju Future City Forum 2024, held on 11 November in Jeonju City, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering the next generation.
This collaboration comes at a pivotal moment as UCLG ASPAC develops its 2025-2030 Manifesto or Strategic Plans, where youth engagement stands as a key priority for the future of sustainable urban development. The symbolic donation, presented by JCI President Seonii and accompanied by former JCI leaders and members, highlights JCI’s dedication to fostering leadership and active citizenship among young people.
“We are thrilled to partner with JCI Seojeonju,” Dr Bernadia stated. “This support is vital in enhancing our youth programmes and ensuring young voices are part of our vision for resilient and inclusive cities.”
The forum, a recurring event in Jeonju, aims to drive forward-thinking discussions on the development of future cities, focusing on sustainability and inclusive urban growth. The donation from JCI Seojeonju will provide resources to strengthen youth engagement initiatives, fostering youth-led projects and participation in the Asia-Pacific’s urban development agenda.
This gesture represents a valuable step toward realising the potential of youth in city leadership and sustainable governance.
