Dave Cull, the former Dunedin mayor, healthboard chairman, local government leader, and television presenter, has passed away at the age of 71.
Cull was diagnosed having pancreatic cancer last year. After receiving treatment, he was moved into hospice care and returned home to be with his family.
Over past years, Dave Cull has dedicated commitment and support towards city sustainable development. From 2017 to 2020, Cull was president of Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ). He also served as a Pacific Co-president of the United Cities and Local Governments Association (UCLG ASPAC), and as vice chairman of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum. He has contributed tremendously to supporting the role of local authorities together with UCLG ASPAC.
His strong commitment and great support to Local Governments will always inspire us. And he will be remembered by us for his great work, leadership and kindness.
On this opportunity UCLG ASPAC secretariat would like to send our deepest condolences, and our minds are with his family on this sad moment. We will remember you.
