On July 8, 2025, the City of Daegu, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, successfully hosted the 18th International Career Fair — marking the first time this national-level event has been held in Daegu. Taking place at Daegu Exhibition & Convention Centre, the event attracted around 200 university students, young professionals and citizens eager to explore careers in global public service.
This year’s Career Fair featured the participation of eight prominent international organisations: the UN Secretariat, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), International Criminal Court (ICC), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In addition to informative presentations on recruitment processes and competency requirements, a key highlight was the series of one-on-one mock interviews. These sessions provided selected participants with practical feedback and personalised guidance from officials representing each organisation — a rare and valuable opportunity for future international professionals.
The event also featured promotional booths from local organisations such as the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR), the Daegu International Development Cooperation Centre, and offices showcasing Daegu’s youth-related policies. These booths allowed participants to explore broader opportunities for engagement in international development and local initiatives.
As an active member of UCLG ASPAC, Daegu is committed to expanding global opportunities for its youth and strengthening its international outlook. Hosting this prestigious event reflects the city’s dedication to building bridges between local talent and the global stage.
With this milestone, Daegu reaffirms its role in supporting global citizenship, multilateral cooperation, and youth empowerment for a more sustainable and inclusive future.
