Vanuatu, a democratic republic with two spheres of government: national and local.

The Local Authorities Association of Vanuatu (LAAV) is here to ensure that cooperation between local governments in the region is maintained and to share experiences and skills, and promote peer learning.

The association is also a voluntary body financed by member subscriptions, comprised of Presidents and Secretary Generals of six provinces and the three municipalities of Vanuatu: Port Vila, Luganville, and Lenakel also share membership through its Mayors and Town clerks.
