Since August 2019, the IUC Asia program of the European Union has been providing technical assistance and support to five pilot cities in Indonesia (Palembang, Denpasar, Depok, Malang and Makassar) for the development of their Climate Action Plans (CAP) that are according to the Global Covenant of Mayors’ Common Reporting Framework (GCoM CRF). The technical assistance is being implemented through cooperation with Centre for Climate Risk and Opportunity Management in Southeast Asia Pacific (CCROM-SEAP) in Indonesia as our technical partner.
In November, the CAP development in these five pilot cities will arrive at the finish line. IUC Asia will hold a Final Workshop virtually to showcase the pilot cities’ CAPs that they have developed throughout IUC Asia programme. The CAPs will show the cities’ commitments to address climate change by reducing greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions, adapting to the impacts of climate change, and delivering wider social, environmental, and economic benefits. There will be reflections and discussions about the challenges and lesson-learned throughout the process, especially for future EU cooperation, along with a review of its progress from IUC Asia’s last mid-term monitoring. In the future, the end result of CAP development with IUC Asia programme will be used as reference for replication in other GCoM cities.
Join our discussions and learn more about how these Indonesian cities develop their CAP to strive for a low-carbon and resilient future!
