The Secretary-General of United Cities and Local Governments of the Asia Pacific, Dr. Bernawati Irawati Tjandradewi, joined the declaration of commitment to the Smart Green ASEAN Cities Programme Launching. As the key knowledge management hub on local government in the region, UCLG ASPAC as a host of ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) and GCoM Southeast Asia (GCoM SEA), has been committed to supporting local governments in ASEAN in enhancing capacity, sharing practices, and knowledge on the implementation of global agenda 2030 target toward sustainable and smart cities.

Furthermore, with the synergy of the local governments, the European Union (EU), and other related stakeholders, the transformative promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially in the Smart ASEAN Cities Programme, will be achieved. Therefore, UCLG ASPAC/AMF/GCoM SEA states the commitment to continue the support by strengthening partnerships regionally and with the European Union globally to achieve Smart Green Cities Programme.

As the key knowledge management hub on cities and local government in the region, host of ASEAN Mayors Forum and GCoM Southeast Asia, UCLG ASPAC has been committed to support cities and local governments in ASEAN member cities to enhance cities capacity, sharing practices, and knowledge on the implementation of global agenda 2030 towards the implementation of sustainable and smart cities.

UCLG ASPAC strongly supports and commits to strengthening the partnerships and collaborations regionally to achieve Smart Green Cities Programme to the ASEAN Cities. Also, UCLG ASPAC will ensure greater active participation of ASEAN cities in working with all stakeholders and delivering this programme.
