Local Governments-Self Assessment Tools on DRR

The UNISDR, is a partner of UCLG ASPAC on spreading a global Campaign named “Making Cities Resilient (MCR)” in Asia Pacific. The scope is to increase efforts in accelerating the creation of capacity development of cities to develop the LG-SAT (Local Government Self-Assessment Tools) usage. On the occasion of its collaboration with the UN-Habitat for a Collaborative Learning Initiative for Cities (CLIC), UNISDR organized a Workshop on Resilient City Action Plan, from 18-21 March 2014 in Incheon City, South Korea.

The Making Cities Resilient campaign partners consistently emphasized the critical need to shift the focus of MCR Campaign from advocacy to practical actions. Also, supported-efforts are needed for the implementation of the LG-SAT.

During the training, participants were grouped into 3 major groups: The first group was the Philippines. The second, was Korean and the third, was a combined group (Indonesia, Armenia, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mongolia). Participants were trained to apply the LG SAT for their respected cities. In the combined group, the case of Stepanavan (Armenia) was presented. Participants hoped they could implement what they learned in their own cities.
